About Graybeal & Associates

Transforming Christian school leadership since 2001.

In June of 2001, I (Phil) began Graybeal & Associates, LLC as an act of obedience to the Lord’s leading. Too many of my friends in Christian school leadership were “canceling their subscription” to Christian ministry, not because they couldn’t live on the meager pay or because they had run off with someone else’s spouse, but because they simply couldn’t get along with their Board. Board/Management relations have mystified the best of leaders around the world for years…and the instructional literature was in large part unhelpful and confusing at best.

When Southside Christian School (Simpsonville, SC), where I was serving as Head, made the switch to Dr. John Carver’s Policy Governance® model of leadership, I finally knew that I had run across something worth exporting. I genuinely believed then, and even more so now, that the Policy Governance model can transform the leadership environment of Christian ministries around the globe as they seek to carry out what God has called them to do. I personally experienced the benefit of the model and in 1999 received extensive face-to-face training from Dr. Carver to equip me to share this revolutionary set of governance principles with others.

I have found the principles of the Policy Governance model to be universally applicable and biblically consistent when used according to its design. The transformative results that I have observed in Christian schools and ministries around the world who have accepted the challenge of governing with excellence have caused me to say…thank you Jesus!

As we refined our approach, we have added highly trained and experienced members to the team and the list of services has expanded. Yet our focus remains the same—Transforming Christian School Leadership.
